I dug out a 30 some year old real-to-reel 3 3/4 ips mono tape recorder from the stack of electronics in the basement. I had in mind that I might fix it up to find a certain tape made for a group project for a HS class. After disassembling the recorder, blowing out the dust, cleaning the scratchy volume controls and switches, cleaning the heads, and lubricating the right parts, I needed to test it with a tape. Surprise, the first one I pulled from the baggie was that tape and it held together for the digitizing. So, here it is.
What is it you ask? For an assignment for Lefsky's (?) class, a group of students had to produce a serial radio program set in the era of the Flapper. Here are the three segments of this program after some enhancement from the original analog audio tapes with the help of Audacity. I suggest saving it to disk first so you can play all three segments together later without having to wait 5 minutes for the download.
If you have an mp3 player and a slow internet connection, the mp3 is strongly recommended
over the wav.
