Friday July 10, Day 7 - Beaubien

We slept in until 6:00 AM again. It was sunny. I guess our sister crew was finally able to dry out the last of their gear yesterday and today. I had the clothes that I washed at Cypher's that were finally dry.

We went for a ranch talk in the morning. There was also opportunity to learn how to lasso. In the afternoon, the ranglers talked to us about horses and how to mount and dismount them and how to control them. Rich asked about cow tipping - pushing over cows that are caught sleeping standing up. The rangler didn't recommend that he do that. The cows are not very polite once they wake up. We went for a horseback ride. Yes, those are the skulls of dearly departed horses that you see on the shed. My horse always wanted walk too close to the one is front so I had to keep putting the brakes on. Crew 1 thought the ride was too long.

Dinner tonight was regular trail food, mac & cheese but needed a bit more water. The dessert had everything mixed together and it was quite strong and tasted like pure sugar. After dinner, there was a good camp fire. In case the reader didn't realize this, because of the fire ban, the camp fires don't actually have fires - only a lantern at best.

It didn't rain all day!
